"Early detection and treatment of lameness are critical; untreated cows face a six- to twelvefold increased risk of culling compared to healthy animals."

—husband and wife, hoof trimmers, and proud supporters of New Zealand’s dairy community.
We’re the team behind Seeds Hoof Trimming Ltd, a mobile hoof trimming service based in Southland and Clutha. Nathan is one of only eight fully qualified hoof trimmers in New Zealand, holding an international Diploma in Cattle Hoof Care. He’s hands-on with the cows and our team, while Amy runs the operation behind the scenes, bringing years of experience in calf rearing and a deep passion for animal health and welfare.
Before we started Seeds Hoof Trimming, we both worked on dairy farms. Nathan first learned to trim hooves as part of his day-to-day role and quickly developed a real knack for it. Meanwhile, Amy was raising calves and keeping a close eye on their development and wellbeing. Over time, we noticed something important—there just weren’t enough professional hoof trimmers around. Lameness was going untreated, and farmers were left without reliable options.
That’s when we decided to combine our skills and do something about it.
Our goal is simple: deliver top-quality hoof care, the kind we’d want for our own herd. We take pride in doing things right the first time, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices, and working as part of your farm team to keep your cattle healthy and productive.
At Seeds Hoof Trimming, we stand by three core values:
Integrity – we do what’s right, especially when no one’s watching.
Pride in our craft – every job is done to our own high standards.
Continual improvement – we’re always learning and levelling up.
We want our customers to feel looked after—not just during the visit, but long-term. Whether we’re trimming a lame cow or doing preventative work, you can count on us to care as much as you do.
